Nope, it was the missing wind resistance coefficent parameter. I set all of the indoor simulation parameters to their corresponding default values from the FE-C spec and it now works. Sprints on 2.0% don't get soft at all got up to 700 watts on an easy gear.
110 rpm, 50/13 gear, and 7 % grade tops at about 600-700 watts, with a feeling of the resistance lowering down at the unit the harder you try to go.
