Integrating Econ-Ark and Dolo

Proposal: implement models using hybrid (hark/dolark), formal mathematical description of the models being solved

• Buffer Stock Model

  • already exists as a crude prototype in DARKolo
  • Bring in simulation code from the REMARK
  • Add a dolo-style simulation
  • Check for differences in output; they might be due to different ways of modeling exogenous shocks

• Krusell-Smith (HARK version exists, in DemARK; use as basis)

  • Has HARK. Needs REMARK Make Krusell-Smith ReMARK from the Krusell-Smith DeMARK REMARK#17
  • Needs Dolark comparison

• Ayiagari model

  • CDC students are working on this already for getting into HARK.
  • Dolark ?? …

Dolark has started (see the github "examples") but does not seem to be working yet

They've sent a Jupyter notebook writeup of the model; I've told them they need to revise to get to the point where there are structural equations like those needed for dolark representation. NB. What dolark loosely calls "Aiyigari" is actually a mishmash of Aiyigari's original model and the Krusell-Smith model; but my students' explicit mandate (and ours; for teaching purposes) is to replicate exactly what Aiyigari did.

It's a https://github.com/econ-ark/REMARK, and a (not yet working) dolark model which for mysterious reasons has the name "bfs". Doesn't work yet, but they are actively working on it.
