Enchantment Diffusion

Enchantment Diffusion is the process that uses the magical properties of cloth, woven from thread, to move enchantments from a tool to a book. This process must be performed on an Infusion Repair Table. The mechanics for this vary, depending on which version of Minecraft you're using. Be warned, as this process will damage the tool by 20%, though it will never destroy it completely.

##Usage (1.8+) Start by placing a piece of cloth (just one, not a stack) onto the infusion repair table just as you would a tool. Then drop your enchanted tool/weapon/armor (one per diffusion) onto the table, and the tool will be sucked into the table. Next, drop a regular book onto the table, and it too will be sucked in. You will then see hearts floating above the table. Stand on top of the table and it will drain health from you until the table is full (defaults to eight hearts, configurable). This process can kill you if you are injured. After the health is drained, the cloth will be consumed, and replaced by the now-enchanted book, and the transferred enchantment will be removed from the tool. Which enchantment is moved is randomly selected.

An infusion scroll can help with this process by telling what item comes next.

##Usage (1.7) As in this version of Minecraft, the infusion repair table has a GUI, the process is much simpler. Simply place cloth into the center slot, then the enchanted tool into one of the surrounding slots, followed by a book. Then you can pull out the enchanted book from the output slot. The cloth and book will be consumed. In this version, it is always the first enchantment that is moved.

The GUI will show which item comes next in the "Needed" text.
