Problem

Currently, i can't close applications from the dock.

There is the feature "Close All", which closes every window of the application after another. That way, when i open the application again, i loose all my windows except the last closed. That's not what i want or expect.

The system does not have a minimize button for the windows because i should be able to close an application and open it again and have the same windows as before. That does not work when using the dock.

Because of the "Close All" i lost all my work many times. Now i have lost about 500 browser tabs which i can't restore! This is the worst error an application could have!

Here is a video that demonstrates the problem: https://youtu.be/-JD9clYmJQk

Workaround: Some applications have an option "Exit" in their menu, like Chromium. You can also use third-party applications like Monitor to "End process".

Proposal

Add feature "Close" which closes the application.

Maybe remove "Close All" because it does not work how people (at least me) expect and might loose work.

Prior Art (Optional)

I think any other OS has that.

Thanks for your report! We're doing a complete rewrite of the dock based on our recent UI study and this particular issue isn't able to be reproduced in the new version of the dock
