performance is pretty decent since we got rid of the pre-loaded iframes. don't think this is worth spending time on. Benchmarks: pre-optimisation 72 HTTP requests were made, costing 6.39 onload speed. this has been cut down to 28 HTTP requests, with an onload speed of 1.35.
