Is it possible to add a feature where the sound has to reach a certain level
(db, volume, or whatnot) before it will be sent to my streaming server?

Sorry, I think I need to clarify.

I want to always be streaming, but I want basically silence to be sent to the
server unless the incoming audio reaches a certain level (basically ignore
input when it is below the threshold).

Almost like a noise gate of sorts - I do understand what you want and will look
into it

Exactly, I use edcast to broadcast a police scanner so there is a lot of
periods of silence ... it would just be nice to have no background noise during
that silence. Typically right now on the RMS meter when no one talking it sits
right around -30 on the RMS/peek meter. If I could set the "gate" to -15 it
would remove it.

Thanks for considering this.

Lol - I too have noticed this - I would like Edcast to continue encoding during
total silence. Currently if I have a long track change or just utter silence,
the stream disconnects. I need the silence..
