Dear Miguel,

thanks for your contribution. I believe the phrase is a pun on the famous format command [1], made popular by MS-DOS the other day. The original posters in French and their baseline translations into English and German have the same phrase, so I think we should honor the wording of the original artists in this specific case.

Cheers!

Yes, I know the word, but I think is a "tech" word that for example my father or a no-tech friend do not know it.

Dear Miguel,

I hear you. Still, I think we should honor the wording of the original artists of La Quadrature du Net in this specific case. If any people do not know about specific details of the poster campaign (including the wording of specific posters), I believe it is a great opportunity to have any kinds of discussions about it.

With kind regards,
Andreas.

Hi again,

in the light of what @G4E said within the discussion at [1]:

In french, the verb "formater" [0] can either mean to format (like to format a hdd) or to brainwash.
They must have thought that the meanings were the same in English.

I believe it might be safe to reconsider the translations into other languages than French, contradicting my previous argument. What do you think, @Emeraude?

With kind regards,
Andreas.
