While a //world/joint was permitted until SDFormat 1.6, it was removed in SDFormat 1.7 since there were no sibling links that could be referenced as //joint/parent and //joint/child. As of SDFormat 1.8, it is possible to support //world/joint with the :: syntax and the ability to refer to reference a frame instead of only a link as the parent / child.
