GBIF processes scientificNameID, taxonID and taxonConceptID for configured identifier schemes; initially WoRMS LSID. The details of this are discussed in this issue. The fields and their relevance are described a bit more here.

The process should be documented in data processing and quality checks and there should be a section in data publishing describing which sources are processed for publishers. Both parts should link to one another.
