Do you provide the JSON versions or the API that turns these into a JSON output when queried?

Yes sure, getBible is a JSON API... Please visit https://getbible.net/api

Then to understand more watch the few videos here https://getbible.net/main-component

Also take a look at https://getbible.net/load-scriptures

To get one full translation use https://getbible.net/json?v=kjv

There is a list of versions available at the bottom of the https://getbible.net/api page, the abbreviate in blue is what is used to call that version.

I mean is there a way I can host my own Bible API? So I can call
http://myserver.com/json?v=kjv

It will explain how to install the component on a Joomla website on your own host, and how to then install the translations and much more.

Since the component is a Joomla component that moves the API to any website that installs it.
