show unauthorized links (new functionality suggestion)

Woluld be nice to have the functionality "Show unauthorized links" (like in Joomla).

p.s When linking to K2 item which is in "special" or "for registered only" category the initial text of item is diplayed and after click to "read more" the info: "you have to login to access this item" is displayed

Will this function be added?I really don`t want to move everything back from k2 to joomla articles.
I really need this function,so the people can see intro text,and register to read more on my site.
would this feature will be implemented in an timely mannerly?!

@electrovibes Will all due respect, this isn't how open source software works. You really have no right to demand this. If you need this functionality right away, I'd suggest investigating developing a plugin to add this functionality or hiring a developer to implement it and contribute it back.

With all due respect,this functions shoulded be there from the start,i invested already and payed for an k2 plugin,from wich i didn't receive no answer,and no feedback back,and the plugin does not even works in joomla 2.5.
And i buyed from an site that is from an contributor and developer of k2.
So what open source means to you?To make better softwares with nice functionality ?Or someone just to pay for functionality?If someone will pay like you suggest an developer and he will develop that function,what is the reason for him to share the whole code with the rest?I guess none.
And i think you understood wrong,i did not demanded nothing,but who done k2 did an huge mistake to not add this functionality from version 1.0.0.
Is like having an jaguar XJ ultimate,and you find out that you don't have no night-vision,better buy an mercedes!
I'm not talking here about some funky functionality that i want only for me,if this is added,i guess all k2 users get benefits out of it,not only me,and i guess this is what open source means!
I asked,if this functionality will be added or not,that is all,if it won't be added GOOD BYE K2!

p.s:I think if you looked and readed very well,the post more up,you will see that witraze done the same thing like me,what is so bad to suggest an functionality? People who wants to use k2 for example me or witraze needs to know,if this will be done or not,if not there are other solutions as well.
I think we both asked, because we liked k2, but if your telling to us that we don`t have no right to make suggestion and make this software better,then i think you don't know what open source is for real.

This is something that a few people have asked to add in the past. It's no biggie for us, but there will be minor changes to the templates. Expect the feature to appear in 2.7.0 (the next update).

Thanks very much,fevangelou,this is the kind of answer,that i was waiting for.
More then that from my research i dont think this functionality is something hard to add,as its already in joomla,and it should be present in k2,too.People i saw that are speaking about this from about 3 years go.
Also someone post,something and some code already here : http://getk2.org/community/New-to-K2-Ask-here-first/135860-Register-to-read-more hope its usefull for the developer of k2. I am sure,that this feature can be added without problems,and im glad that somebody cleared out this problem for the people that really needs that feature to keep continue to use k2.
Is more good to be implemented into the k2 directly,if someone integer and messing some code,then k2 release next update again the function will not work,and this is why i think is more good to be directly in there.
So thank you very much fevangelou,for giving an answer on this issue,i really appreciate it.Do you have any idea when the next 2.7.0 realease will be?And when joomla will have the 3.5 LTS ,there will be k2 ver. 3 ?!
As i think k2 is great,and with some help,it will be more great,this is what open source stands for,to make an software more good,more secure,with lots of good functionality.
And i can help on testing or reporting bugs in it after release,you can count on me on that if you want,or translation!

I think i will wait one more week on this,if no answer or nothing,i will forget about using k2,as people from my research are asking for this many time in k2 support forums : http://getk2.org/community/New-to-K2-Ask-here-first/147125-Where-is-Show-Unauthorized-Links some even from 3 years ago and many topics and many people requesting this simple feature,that shoulded be there from version 1.0 of k2,and nothing was done to fix this huge bug,on my side i cannot wait another 3 years,i will wait one more week for clear answers,else i will have to drop k2,and i think i`m not the only one.

This is not a bug. It's a feature. And we will implement it when other more important things are completed. And surely not just to justify ones needs. "Many people requesting" is not an actual number, it's your guess. And like Matt said above "Will all due respect, this isn't how open source software works"...

hey, @fevangelou, Where is v2.7.0 ? I noticed that you had promised to release v2.7.0 "in a few weeks", you said so on Sep 21, 2013, almost 23 months ago, right?

Is this the way you think open source software should works?

If you think "many people requesting" is not an actural request, then, 2,000,000 downloads of K2 is what? I had downloaded it for more than 10 times, but I hate K2 now. Do you think those 2 million downloads are all from "k2 lovers" ? Shit!
