Originally reported on Google Code with ID 22

I really like the idea of using rss feeds to loosely track progress. However, I can't
seem to subscribe to the feeds via Google Reader or a proprietary reader.

I am able to browse to the rss 2.0 feed at http://<host>:8080/feed/<project>.git but
when I enter the url into google reader it can't seem to find it.
Similarly entering the reader in a different reader, it gives me
"Error: Unable to parse feed from host." Even in firefox, there is supposed to be
the option of a 'live bookmark' (http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/livebookmarks.html)
but this option is not enabled on the gitblit rss page.

Is the rss valid? Perhaps the wrong MIME type is being served?

IE and Chrome (Slick RSS) seem to handle the feed just fine and so does TT-RSS. I don't
have a publicly accessible Gitblit to try GoogleReader. Authentication will obviously
complicate the feed if your repository is View restricted so I'm assuming its not View
restricted (and therefore indexable by Google Reader).

FF4 moved the RSS button from the address bar to a toolbar button. It properly detects
the RSS discovery link embedded in the Summary page of my test setup but fails to offer
the Subscribe as Live Bookmark feature. It did work with FF 3.6.x. I will try to
understand why it doesn't work in FF4.

Give Chrome/Slick RSS a try and let me know if that works for you. And also double-check
server.httpBindInterface and server.httpsBindInterface.

It turns out that FF4 is more picky about the "Content-Type" header of the feed. This
will be fixed in the next release. Thanks for reporting it.
