At Gitcoin, We <3 Bots.

This is a bounty to create more Gitcoin Bots in new interesting scenes & styles.

Pricing

i'll pay 35 DAI per artwork that looks as though some effort was put into it, up to 70 DAI if i really really love the piece (at my discretion). if budget is a constraint for you, reach out to me here (or kevin@gitcoin.co) and well take it from there.

i'll pay for 2 bots per person. if you submit 2 bots and i LOVE them i might ask you to do more.

Requested Styles for the Bot

In the the past we have requested bots that were influenced by characters in pop culture. This time we're doing something different. I'm asking you to take the Gitcoin bot, and put it into a new design style. Some example design styles we think would be cool:

The theme of this quarter is "public goods are good'.

From https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public_good_(economics) :

In economics, a public good (also known as a social good or collective good) is a good that is both non-excludable and non-rivalrous, in that individuals cannot be excluded from use or could benefit from without paying for it, and where use by one individual does not reduce availability to others or the good can be used simultaneously by more than one person.[1] This is in contrast to a common good such as wild fish stocks in the ocean, which is non-excludable but is rivalrous to a certain degree, as if too many fish are harvested, the stocks will be depleted.

'Public goods are good' is an easy way to advocate that people celebrate, recognize, how public goods have affected their lives.

i know that some of these styles are incompatible with the line-based structure of the bot. please feel free to experiment with recreating the bot in a specific style. heres an example of someone taking the gitcoin bot & breaking the style guide, and it coming out really well:

@DreadKnight , here is the procedure that I do for it:
1- take the kudos template and draw what you want as a vector into it (I use illustrator for that)
2- make sure that you rename each layer.
3- for now, I use svgator, an online service for animation. import to them the .svg that you make, and animate each layer you want. (unfortunately, it's free only for 14day)
4- export it as CSS animation, not js
5- Good luck :)

@L-KH Understood. Thanks for sharing, it did seem to me from my research online services are the best chance. Will give this a try soon and hopefully will find something that's not a trial. Anyway, even managing some very basic rotations or tweens will add a lot to the quality and magic of a kudos art.

another thing i want to fix is the payout process. right now its a lot of back and forth. hopefully for the 8th edition ones i can just make the system auto-payout upon minting so you dont hav eto submit in multiple places.

@owocki That would be great. I've just submitted my first kudos, still waiting for approval. Though, was wondering if I can update it after approval or so? Have a small revision and usually like it when things aren't fully set into stone.
A few pointers:

  • the platform field (default to gitcoin) should get an explanation
  • the eth wallet address should be user's default one ideally, using gitcoin.co's address if the github bounty link field not empty
  • if I set a different artist name (like Dread Knight instead of username dreadknight), will it still point to my profile or what?
  • would be nice to have some kind of Finney-to-USD convertor, as I don't usually use ETH and this was first time hearing about Finney xD
  • would be great if the selected svg file would actually get previewed in the process...

Also, can I sent the kudos I mint for "free" (besides gas price) to others?
And can I gift away any existing kudos that I have?

@DreadKnight those are all good ideas. wanna throw them into a seperate github issue + we can find a dev to work on them?

right now there is no way to update a kudos other than to submit a new one and hide the old one or gift them. though we could build it with enough time

@owocki Sure, gonna make some related issues pretty soon, especially after I get to see my first kudos online and draw a few more conclusions about the whole system and process. Kept my first kudos simpler (no animation), but might be able to animate future ones by editing the file directly and manually writing the style/CSS for it. Will take a look at the next stuff as well after a break 👍
