Currently it seems that linguist only ignores the pattern in vendor.yml. But is it possible to support the feature that ignore the pattern contained in some files like .vendor.yml in the source tree for the customization of directory and file ignoring?
Thanks!

That's an interesting idea and I've definitely thought about it. The problem is that it would allow people to artificially affect their repo statistics, so we're not inclined to do it.
Repo statistics are already being "artificially affected" by the inclusion of certain libraries that are not included in vendor.yml. Six of one half a dozen of the other?
To correct my repo's language statistics I could simply throw a random clojure library in place to switch the lines back to what I want to see.
