Existing assignment now has no repository template specified

I released an assignment to students four weeks ago, most were able to accept the assignment and clone the repository with no issues.
Two students are starting late and as of today, I noticed that there is not longer any template repository specified. And vital starting code and check scripts are missing.
The starting template repository still exists.

1. copy a assessment from older classroom
2. some students join with no error
3. change assessment name
4. template repository disappear and do not allow to edit

by the way, classroom is with a LOT of new bugs

I have encountered this error as well. The template disappear and there is no way to change it! There are more than a hundred students waiting for the assignment;.

Same issue. Also, all my assignment, including new ones I just created, now show the message below. Did something break connected to the GitHub outage yesterday or something? I have 150 student waiting for assignments now and I'm going to have share files through Dropbox because GH classroom stopped working.

I've tried to find some way to contact GitHub about this, but can't seem to find any type of support channel other than community discussions (and this repo, I guess) 🤷

I know @RyanHecht has been involved in solving similar issues - maybe he has some input on this?
