"Stylesheets" need overhaul

I really don't like how they are done now. I did start a massive refactor effort to change these, but it got the better of me; spent a lot of time changing things, then realised I actually should have done it a completely different way :(

This was the major reason why I halted development 5 months ago! I have now branched my broken work (to reassess at a later date) and rolled my local copy back to the last stable version. I'll try to make more minor changes for a bit, before I try to take on this task again :)
