GCC13 and 32 bit x86 seem to have some slightly different results with floating point that appear to be compiler related. This changes the relevant tests to use the Fraction class/Allocation class to use rational arithmetic instead.

Various minor fixes for compilation warnings with both gcc and clang. This is on top of #2731 and so will show those commits too until that PR is merged and this is rebased.
Some of these warnings are downright false positive boneheaded things from the compilers BTW.
Closes #2691.
