When using nomad exec, it is useful for the CLI to pass local TERM/LANG and other variables to remote sessions, so debugger can seamless use sophisticated text-based uis (e.g. tmux/screen/vim) effectively.

Having API accept TERM and other environment variables ease web terminal development, so we can set an appropriate TERM value for the javascript implementation automatically without user intervention.
