overview

summary

This proposal suggests adopting a LoRaWAN subregion config for max EIRP limit which will allow individual countries within an RF region i.e. AS923 to define max EIRP limit based on each country’s local regulation instead of a single max EIRP limit across the entire AS923 as a result of PoCv11.

I believe in Taiwan the situation is that the reduced EIRP has heavily impacted ability to beacon and witness. I personally have a miner in a high rise with 0 beacon witness potential. Last month I had observed healthy rewards and decided to “get on the waitlist” for a miner. Finally deploying a couple weeks ago have been severely disappointed but the results. Many hotspots are not too close to each other. I see others also achieving poor beaconing results. My only conclusion is the EIRP limit is affecting everyone. When will this HIP be out to a vote?

here is an example PoC receipt from a 6dbi that should have performed much better. https://explorer.helium.com/txns/MSS0AP7h4z45X13_o3vSz5kX60xWvCQNhT6PY7ohjfQ

This HIP has been stale for some time and without discussion. We are moving to close it. If you would like to reopen this HIP, please resubmit as a new PR with changes. Thanks for your contribution to the Helium Community!

This shouldn't have been closed in the first place as the impacts of the AS923 DualPlan switch have only been noticeable since the change was made about 48 hours ago. There are ample reasons to re-open and I have faith that the community will act accordingly
