Youtube downloading is extremly slow

I have seen issues like this and there seems to be a ytdl fork which solves the issue of downloading a youtbe video at astonishing 42.34 KiB p/s. This is just extremly frustrating as my internet connection is way faster than this. Have I missed something or is there a fix already?

starting lux with the -m flag improved speeds alot (1.6 Mib p/s) but that is still about 10x slower than my internet connection.
