I have the same problem, but with flatpak. I noticed that the ".mozilla" folder that it uses is the one on Home, but at least with flatpak, the ".mozilla" folder is located inside ".var/app/org.mozilla.firefox/.mozilla".

I suspect this is the problem, the extension just assumes we will have the repository version installed.

Edit: Also, how do I uninstall this? I've deleted the .mozilla folder, the folder created on .local and the extension, but I keep getting the notification and nothing gets saved.
My bad, I had to go to Firefox addon website to remove the extension there. Now it's uninstalled.

Problem exists also with Firefox 102.0 on Win 8.1.

Hi.
For me, the problem started when I upgraded to ubuntu 22.04, firefox was installed as a snap.

I Solved it by removing the snap and installing firefox from the mozilla-team ppa, I followed this:
https://askubuntu.com/questions/1399383/how-to-install-firefox-as-a-traditional-deb-package-without-snap-in-ubuntu-22

I also have this problem, it's a shame as I don't want to stop using the snap version.

The suggestion of Anacletus worked for me too ... Timimi is working again :-)

Hi

I solved this problem in KDE Neon and flatpak. Be careful with snap or flatpak browsers because they are sandboxed.

When you run the /timimi-2-1-1.Linux the .json and timimi (binary executable) are saved in folders like

.local/share/timimi
.config/google-chrome/NativeMessagingHosts/timimi.json

With flatpak you must do:

  • copy de file timimi to /home/julio/.var/app/com.google.Chrome/config/google-chrome/ (sure there is a better folder to put it but now is working)

  • edit the file /home/julio/.var/app/com.google.Chrome/config/google-chrome/NativeMessaginfHosts/timimi.json changing the path to the above

With snap files you must find the folders that your browser uses.
