Is the current required relational link between ship and suvey needed?

Currently there is a requirement (check) to establish a relational link between ship and survey. Is this required or should we make it automatic i.e. remove

What does automatic imply? That the link is automatically for a combination of ship and survey when you upload data? Then I think it is a good idea. it should avoid delay in cases where a survey is carried out with a vessel that has not been used for that survey previously.

It in practise mean that there will be no link between ship and survey, and as such no check will be made for the relationship in question.
