In many instances, endogenous frequent markers in samples from similar matrices can be used as retention indices to correct retention times. This approach was incorporated in the IDSL.IPA using the Kovats equation shown below.

The IDSL.IPA approach applies the power of statistics to minimize automation errors through calculating corrected retention times using multiple combinations of endogenous markers, and then presenting the median of all corrected retention times.
