I think it would be killer to have the LEDs sequentially light, maybe on/off in a circle or something on boot.

You mean replacing the scroll text or in addition to the scroll text? To me the scroll text is a bit too long but it's the only plase where you can see the current installed firmware version.

I should have been clearer, since the display is in fact LEDS.

I meant a “light show” using to tape, from tape, tune, preset, record, etc.
like maybe having those membrane LEDs light up in order in a pattern or something.
