not saving downloaded rasters

I checked ~/.qgis/python/plugins/natural_earth_raster/data and the plugin isn't saving the downloaded rasters. It only somtimes displays them when finished downloading. I recovered files from my old harddrive and added the rasters to this folder and the plugin recognizes them (doesn't redownload). without manually putting them there it always redownloads.
