A better way to provide star ratings

The form field to record ratings (0 to 5) in review form can be reduced to an individual and more esthetic component for start rating.

Only one field should be present the user can select the no the stars and accordingly the rating will be given.

Can we further extend it to include natural number (e.g. 1,2...5 star) to fractional also (e.g. 1.5, 2.5...4.5 star)?

Yes fractional ratings would be better.
