Using alt+enter to toggle fullscreen results in an extra fullscreen toggle on quit

Using the alt+enter combo to toggle fullscreen on Windows seems to result in an extra fullscreen toggle before the game quits.

Have game in windowed mode.
Alt-enter to go full screen.
Alt-enter again to go windowed
Quit the game.

My Desktop Res is 1680x1050 (16:10)
Game res 1440x900 (next lowest 16:10)

I think I see another fullscreen toggle on exit, in addition to a bunch of wacky behavior when even attempting alt+enter fullscreen/windowed swap. Sometimes the game comes right back from the swap only to freeze and then catch up a few seconds later.

This is on Windows 8.1

I think it might be related to the filesystem reloading or pure reset in disconnect function.
