Hi James,

I'm teaching the nand2tetris course, and recently discovered that many of my students just download the solutions from the web and blindly submit them.
Additionally, course terms are explicitly ask for not posting the solutions publicly on the web. See: http://www.nand2tetris.org/terms.php.

Therefore, could you please remove your GitHub repository that contains the nand2tetris solutions?

Many thanks in advance,
Alex.

Hi Alex,

I put my code here because I like to have it backed up in version control; it being public is a side effect of that rather than my primary goal. I understand the spirit of the request but there is no better place that I'm aware of for me to store my code.

It is also my right, as the author of the code, to do what I like with it, including being able to discuss it with others online. When I was taking the course we had weekly meet-ups to discuss each other's code, and this was a really valuable exercise.

It's not my fault that some students plagiarise material from the web, and they are only hurting themselves by doing so. Personally, I think reading other people's code is valuable and policies like this are counter-productive; they stop copy-pasters at the expense of those who want to study other people's code in good faith.

Sorry to disappoint, but I don't think people who publish information online are responsible for the fact that some students don't want to put the work in.
