When hitting tab or cycling through things sometimes all the text seems randomly to disappear.

This seems to have been the result of promoting a "u" (there was no consonantal form). Since the backend now supports varying length characters, we can add the shuruq to the consonantal u which should solve the problem. See 3395a76.
