They'd look so much neater! Unfortunately you'd have to use a conical tip on a drill press or mill to get the cone shape.

We considered making the screw heads flush with the surface of the duck. We would have used these black-oxide, socket head cap screws (#2-56, 5/16" length) instead of flathead screws. We ended up not doing it this time because it would have added another step to the process and we had limited timespan to make these ducks. Next time though, this is something that I would like to pursue.
