is conda package out of date?

The GitHub repo has the latest tag of bte as 0.9.2, but the latest version on conda is 0.9.0.

It is out of date slightly, yes. 0.9.2 is a release without any changes to trigger zenodo archiving. There are a small handful of changes associated with 0.9.1 not reflected in the 0.9.0 conda release (convenience functions to get the LCA and set node distances). I will try to make time to update the conda release, but the version currently on conda should serve all but very specific needs.
