Connection between CaSPAr and MSC Datamart

While CaSPAr archives forecasts issued 7 days or longer ago, the operational forecasts are distributed through MSC Datamart as flat files (no temporal or spatial cropping).

Unfortunately, MSC Datamart and CaSPAr follow different naming conventions for their variables provided. Below you can find a mapping of variables available on Datamart and their corresponding counterpart on CaSPAr. Please be aware that there are:

  1. variables that are available in Datamart but are not archived in CaSPAr and
  2. variables that are archived in CaSPAr but are too much to be distributed through MSC Datamart on a real-time basis.

Variables of RDPS

The Regional Deterministic Prediction System (RDPS) is available on MSC Datamart here in GRIB2 format.
