Just wanted to put this into the issues in case it comes up for others. There is an issue with the new method of using fromgrader on a JupyterHub instance as a managed jupyter notebook server. This seems to be a JupyterHub issue, not an nbgrader issue, but I wanted to make other users aware. I've described it here (issue #997) along with a workaround. If you start the managed JupyterHub process and are unable to view it, check your web console and see if you get custom.js and custom.css 404s. If so, see the the referenced issue.
