Using Nethead
This page includes guidelines on using Nethead.
Don't change the host name for a mote, or the service description for an RSS service, in Adagios. Nethead relies on the values it assigns for these attributes in the Nagios defintion of the host and service. Of course, it is feasible to support dynamic values for these attributes, but this capability is low priority for now.
The map displays the latest state of the network, but it does not refresh automatically. Manually refresh the page to be sure you see the latest.
A mote appears on the map when Nethead add the host to Nagios. A new node always appears at the top left of the page, at coordinates 100,100. If more than one is added, they will be in a stack. Click and drag a node to move it. The map will remember the new location.
The map shows links between neighboring nodes. As with the motes, a link appears when Nethead adds the RSS service information to Nagios. Link information appears in two ways:
- As colored links between motes. A more saturated color means a stronger link. If a link is bidirectional, the color is based on the average link strength.
- As a tooltip for a mote. The RSS for each linked mote is shown. So if a link is bidirectional, each endpoint will show the RSS received from the opposite end of the link.
