the tutorial you put on bioconductor seems out of date, it took me 2 hours to find these functions....

slingshot is a project in active development and for that reason, the functions and the user interface are still changing (that is the reason why this package is still on Github and not release through Bioconductor yet).

The workshop you have found is from last year and it is indeed outdated, but it should be easy to find the new version of the workshop that we held at Bioc2017, which uses the most up-to-date functions of slingshot:
