It already does. The installation sets the sticky bit (see here and here), which makes the process run with permissions of the executable's owner user, no matter who calls it.
I run it as my regular user without problems on Arch.
How did you install this? What distro? Can you show us ls -l on the executable?
Please make it so it works sans sudo
