Surface flux layer
- Awaiting Xylar's review
- Verify sign of surface momentum fluxes (i.e., direction the Ekman layer is deflected by surface stress)
- Not yet possible to specify both top and bottom surface layers
Dynamic melting
- Implemented 3 equations to solve for S_b and melt rate following Asay-Davis et al. 2016 eq. 24-26
- Implemented surface heat flux and surface salt flux following Asay-Davis et al. 2016 eq. 29-30
- Verified 3 equations PALM solver against python solver
- Implemented McPhee parameterization as a new MOST method
- Verifying solution method: works under short run with stable conditions, planned testing with unstable conditions and "freezing" conditions
- Open question about surface momentum fluxes, see PR comment
- New input capabilities:
- drag coefficient or roughness length
- distance or number of grid cells from the surface to define "far-field" temperature and salinity for 3 equations
- New output capabilities:
- melt rate timeseries
- heat flux and salinity flux fields at ice surface
FRISP 2019:
- Submitted travel request
- Have not yet written final abstract and obtained LA-UR #. When to do this?
