Sloping ice base

  • machinery is largely there but not functional (NaNs in output matrices). CB is diagnosing the issue.
  • then, change buoyancy definition to be based on density difference.
  • test evolution without offsets in T,S across cyclic boundaries.
  • Luke recommends testing "bubble" cases in both atmosphere (dense bubble on bottom boundary) and ocean (light bubble on top boundary) and compare behavior.

Fluxes at ice-ocean boundary

  • discuss how to calculate fluxes
  • consider Monin-Obukhov Similarity Theory of McPhee for sea ice conditions. Currently, MOST for atmosphere cases is simulated in PALM. In McPhee MOST, T and S fluxes are clearly defined; momentum fluxes less clear.
  • after coding McPhee MOST, run resolution studies
