Couldn't you just utilize GA here?

Or are you after some kind of "number of times read" counter for an article?

GA will be used globally. However, this is more of a discussion to figure out what sorts of metrics we'd like to capture. For example, page impressions is the easiest to come up with. They don't have to be displayed. But, it may be valuable to track them. Or not, I don't know.
