I don't think we need to hold onto the jargon of "PWD" particularly given the redundancy of the P (and even "C" is a bit redundant given that you wouldn't be asking about a non-current working directory, right?) How about just |
We may wish to revisit |l3sys-shell| vs. \texttt{lsys-shell}, for example, but should be self-consistent.

This package and test (really, example) document is in far from final form but PR to check it in so it doesn't get lost, and to make it easier to keep in sync with changes in the underlying L3 code.
gh insists on showing a three dot diff, there are just two new files for a tex interface and no changes to existing files (following rebases) a better view is
