Some versions of the OpenSSH client have trouble connecting to NAT'ed addresses with some newer versions of the OpenSSH server. See this longer discussion.

The question is whether the IPQoS lowdelay throughput workaround should be added to some (or all) of the box configs? If someone knows precisely which host/guest/provider combinations have this issue, that would also be helpful.

Does anyone know if the upstream bug is fixed, and if afflicted OSs have and/or plan to patch it.

P.S. The only workaround in the repo right now is this. Gentoo was the first OS to suffer from this, and my solution at the time was to pin the OpenSSH package to an older release (for VMWare). It might make sense to remove those lines and use the above workaround.
