As you can probably tell, it was inspired by the california set by Jerry S., specifically, by its knights (which I used as reference). However, as I strove to extend their charm to the other pieces, I found the set developing an identity distinct from the sets I've seen so far on lichess or anywhere else. Furthermore, I believe it totally kicks ass offers excellent readability and goes along flexibly with a great variety of board styles: light, dark, pale, colorful, wood(?), marble(??), knock yourself out.
