github.com/posix4e/rust-metrics <- I am currently working on getting this integrated into tokio itself. Anyway we can join forces @durch should be able to help develope as well.

Definitely! Admittedly, we didn't do a whole lot of research before writing tacho, and were focused on the most expedient solution that fit our needs.

I'm traveling at the moment, but I'll take a look at rust-metrics when I'm back and able to use my brain again.

That would be amazing, I've been itching to move this forward, I'll spend some time going over tacho, and when you have your brain back, we can jump right in :)

hey @olix0r - @posix4e and I were chatting a bit about rust-metrics - there's overlap with tic (https://github.com/brayniac/tic) as well, which I switched to for rpc-perf. I'm not sure if it would meet your needs or not, but throwing it out as another library in this space.

Hi, great to see more work on prometheus metrics. I also saw the dependency on hdrhistorgram - promising. Though I have not dug around the code a lot.

Two things:

  • How do you see your effort related to https://github.com/pingcap/rust-prometheus ?
  • I am personally very interested in single-threaded Tokio usages so it would be nice to have a truly lock-free variant of a metrics library (or a configuration within it), Do you have sth like this in mind?

Thanks!

Jan
