Needed to copy bower_components to public/lib

As referenced in issue #13, I was getting 404s on Angular, jQuery, Bootstrap.

I was able to fix this by copying the contents of the bower_components folder to public/lib folder.

Should bower.json have a "main" attribute of "public/lib" ? Not sure I fully understand bower, but presumably need to somehow point it to install in the right location. Or am I doing something else wrong?

try this

$ sudo npm install -g bower
$ bower install

Yes that was the first thing I did. It appears to have installed components in the bower_components folder, though this was far from obvious to me at first, as the cli response was blank.

Just tried this again on different computer, with fresh install (never before installed) node, npm, etc. Same result - bower install did nothing at all.

Make sure your .bowerrc file looks like this:

Doh! I figured it out.

I moved the contents of the directory after unpacking it in my ~/Downloads folder. But I moved it via command line mv command (mv ~/Downloads/linnovate-mean-c7db3a2 ~/Projects/mean), which did not move the dotfiles (.gitignore and .bowerrc). My bad!

I am also stuck by this problem now. By now I have tried installing and again uninstalling for atleast 5 times but all the time same error pops up. Even tried the @aliceofwanders 's solution but does not work. Any insights??

Finally solved the problem. Actually the solution by @DavidRagone worked. But at-least to me it was not very easy to understand. So I will just add the fix that I applied which is of course the same putting all together; but just in case if anyone again gets to same trouble.

The error I was getting was like this:

Following is what I did to solve it:

• Create ".bowerrc" file on the project folder and add the following code in it:

{
  "directory": "public/lib",
  "json": "bower.json"
}

• Create a new folder "lib" inside "public" folder on the project folder and copy paste all the folders and files that are inside the "bower_components" into this newly created folder.

This worked for me.

Also I have another comment on this issue. May this information must be included in the docs. But also I think it would be nice if this steps are not needed to be carried.

Sorry if my response is stupid.

But I like this tool very much.
