Loginscreen shows user password #220
Comments
A colleague got an important point: What ever triggers this behavior, should take place before the password is hashed, so when the password is set up. Question: Do internet browsers use the $LANG or $MDM_LANG environment variable to show web sites the preferred language (or then the password)? |
OK, I also could find my plain password in the language settings |
How do you get the login window to not already have a language selected for existing users? As you say this issue doesn't affect new users. I can't reproduce your steps because whatever I've tried, there always is already a language selected for my user. |
Hello,
I'm not clear if this issue is related to #216, but I'd consider it as really bad.
When I move the mouse over the empty locale selection of the login screen, a "mouse over" text opens which shows the clear password selected user; see attached screen shots. Once a language is selected, everything is fine.
Adding a new user (who wasn't logged in) does not show the behaviour.
I have reported this to the linux mint bug list https://bugs.launchpad.net/linuxmint/+bug/1720278 because I really don't know what the root cause is.
Cheers,
Dirk
