micro:bit V2 - Update my Device process always fails #8286

Expected Behavior

Process "Update my Device" should install scratch-microbit hex.

Actual Behavior

The "Update my Device" process always fails with micro:bit V2.

It works with micro:bit V1.

Steps to Reproduce

Explain what someone needs to do in order to see what's described in Actual behavior above

Steps to reproduce the behavior:

With Scratch Link running but no scratch-microbit hex installed.

  1. Go to 'https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/editor/'
  2. Click on the extensions button
  3. Click the micro:bit extension
  4. Follow the prompts

System Details

If the problem occurs in the browser, please provide operating system and browser e.g. Mac OS 10.11.6 Safari 10.0

Windows 10 Chrome 123.0.6312.124

If using one of the Apps please provide the app version and device details, e.g. Scratch 3.0.57, Android 9 on HP x360 Chromebook

Reported in Micro:bit Foundation support ticket https://support.microbit.org/helpdesk/tickets/75591 (private)

They report using macOS Big Sur (version 11.7.4) with Google Chrome (Version 124.0.6367.91(office build))
