PCKeyboardHack was renamed Seil. The new version saves preferences to a renamed file.
Can you kill the old PCKeyboardHack application support, and merge the old synced files into this one? |
I get the impression that because the author open sourced PCKeyboardHack, a lot of people still run it under that name. I wasn't sure whether to combine them in a single config file. What do you recommend? It raises the general question of how Mackup should deal with older versions of applications. |
Are the 2 still available? The 2 names are still valid? Any urls? |
http://pqrs.org/macosx/keyremap4macbook/pckeyboardhack.html.en redirects to https://pqrs.org/macosx/keyremap4macbook/seil.html.en . The author recommends using the older version before OSX 10.8: https://github.com/tekezo/Seil . We could incorporate the PCKeyboardHack config data into seil.cfg since the name change is permanent. Again, this really calls for some sort of standard about archiving configurations from deprecated software. The name change possibility is probably pretty rare though. |
Yep, let's put PCKeyboardHack's files into Seil's conf. |
It's configs have been moved to Seil, which is the new name of the software.
Pulled PCKeyboardBack's configs into this file.
Removed PCKeyboardHack, since it's now named of Seil.
Ok, all done. Thank you. |
