There are a lot of C++ wrappers for Lua. I want to use a high-level API directly if it's possible.

Ah. Our C API is very close to Lua but not exactly the same; that said, some C++ wrappers like https://github.com/kunitoki/LuaBridge3 have been updated to work with Luau changes, and it should be pretty easy to modify any other C++ wrapper to work.

Yes. But I'd like to avoid other third-party libraries and use a built-in features of your (great!) project.

Got it. We've talked in the past about a simple light-weight C++ binding API but we haven't had a chance to work on this, so for now you either need to use the C API or a higher level third party library.
