Plugin doesn't update upon viewing a file in Reader View

Opening a file in Reader View doesn't add the word/character count to the status bar.
If you change to Editing View and place your cursor in the page, it updates.

The plugin previously used to update the status bar counts regardless of which view mode you were in.
