I want a little logo, just for the faveicon for now.

If anyone can think up anything creative, tell me. Otherwise I'll make something up. Should be something based.

If it's a simple design, it should be a native svg.

Simple?

Well I'd really just like a square image only, preferably one a little colorful or notable for the faveicon.

I'm not actually going to put this on the page itself now (nor do I really plan wasting the space).

I'm going to send the SVG just doing a few drafts to see what you think of them

Colorful

Well, when I mean "colorful," I don't mean monochromatic.

Any color suggestion to put on it?

Earthly color?

Lol. Monochomatic = one color. It's still one color.

Example of something non-monochromatic: A gray pan, a colored handle for the spatula, multiple ingredients jumping out of the pan all of multiple colors.

When I think of based cooking I think of a dutch oven over a fire pit. That logo doesn't really fit imo

Very corporate. It just needs some chunky cartoon people of ambiguous ethnicity dancing around it. We can use it when we sell out.

Could be funny if the logo had a basting brush or something related since baste -> based.

baste-green

(don't actually use this, but someone that knows how to draw could use this as a proof of concept; a baste-brush B could be used as the flaveicon)

Can't go wrong with pixelart if you intentions are to cringe. It'd be more suited for cringe.cooking or soy.cooking.

I know, might be the most hideous thing you've seen, but it's just a DEMO, as in, just a demonstration about an idea I had. This just takes huge inspiration from ancient greek "ovens", specifically this image:

Yes, the only reason I'm sending this here is maybe to inspire other people to do this, because I currently don't think I can, and I believe people would do better than I would, either way.

These are all shite, except the bell pepper I guess that ain't too bad. Although maybe it should be a steak or a porkchop or something. Or a steak with a fork in it? Or maybe just a lone ladle or spatula?

None of these are gonna look particularly great when scaled down to a favicon size.

Mine is exactly favicon size... Made it for lulz though. I agree. What simple objects, that are recognizable at a resolution as low as 16x16 or so, are unmistakably symbols for cooking?

A ladle or a spatula would be good. Or maybe a chef's hat?

I think this could work or at least go in the right direction. I added a little nod to the fact that it uses Git, which is absolutely based.

Alternative version that is easier to understand when it's a wee little favicon.

I think that it does explicitly explain that it's an open-source oriented recipe software, but it doesn't represent the "light" or "based" aspect in my opinion

I find the black chef hat a bit off-putting. The original design seems to be a step in the right direction, although personally I find it a bit cluttered.

I went out of the way to flip the colors. Now I find the pull request symbol a little off-putting, but the hat looks better.

@mealwhiles

My only concern with your inverted logo is that it will just look like a pull request symbol on light-theme browsers, which is most of them. But I do like that the chef hat is white now, since it looks a lot more like a chef hat!

For a favicon, I suggest to only use the first letters BC
A favicon is really small, and I want to quickly spot the right site when scanning my tabs in the browser.

Based on the typography, I can try to create some ideas for a logo when I find more time.

Invisible when using the GitHub light theme. Maybe add an outline around the hat?

@DominikRusso

We can always have two logos, one for dark themed and one for light themed browsers, since we're already using this css.

Didn't even consider how it looked on light theme (dark theme chad btw). However that does raise an issue about how it looks in general on a lighter background, and can be misleading. The suggested outline around the hat seems alright, but I do like the idea of just using the letters BC like @vod3 mentioned. The two logos for separate themes is also a possibility, but then we're back to the black chef hat.

I quite like this idea. I'd rather have something that's dynamic like that.

At this point I think the GIMP pepper brush is the best idea, because it looks relatively normal for a cooking site but also has some comedic value. Also, GIMP is based.
